Note on test design: SyntraFlow executes the detailed Oracle Fusion HCM Learning UI interactions automatically while presenting the scenario as business-readable test steps for documentation, review and reporting. This scenario is presented as 7 business-readable test steps; SyntraFlow's automation executes approximately 24 underlying Oracle Fusion UI actions to complete it.

Test Objective

This test validates course progress tracking, assessment pass/fail handling, completion recording and downstream learning record updates across Oracle Fusion HCM Learning, without assuming a universal assessment retake policy, due-date enforcement or manager-confirmation configuration.

The scenario should confirm that:

  • course progress is tracked accurately as learners start, resume and progress through online and instructor-led courses
  • assessment attempts are correctly recorded, including pass and fail results and retakes where permitted
  • completion dates are recorded correctly relative to the due date, including on-time and late completion
  • incomplete courses are correctly reflected as incomplete rather than silently marked complete
  • manual completion by an administrator and manager-confirmed completion are recorded correctly where configured
  • deliberately unauthorized completion updates are correctly blocked, and the learning record and completion history update correctly, including triggering certification where configured

A negative or security Learning Completion scenario passes when Oracle correctly enforces the expected assessment, timing or access rule; this test does not attempt to certify a specific Oracle application defect, and does not assume a universal assessment retake policy, due-date enforcement or manager-confirmation configuration — each depends entirely on customer-specific Oracle Fusion Learning configuration. Where an entry or validation appears unexpected or its cause is unclear, it is treated as requiring further investigation and supporting evidence rather than a confirmed conclusion. This page catalogs 20 individual Learning Completion scenarios as a single comprehensive reference rather than as separate indexable pages.

When to Use This Test

  • Functional testing of course progress tracking, assessment handling and completion recording for a new Oracle Fusion HCM Learning implementation
  • Regression testing of assessment pass/fail handling and completion-date recording after an Oracle quarterly update affecting Learning
  • UAT sign-off for Learning Completion across progress tracking, assessment results, completion recording and negative/security scenarios
  • Baseline completion coverage referenced by Learning Certification within the same Learning cluster
  • Comprehensive scenario coverage for teams standardizing on a single Learning Completion regression pack instead of dozens of near-duplicate scripts

Where This Test Fits in the Learning-to-Certification Process

Course Enrollment
Learning Assignment
Learning Completion
Learning Certification

Learning Completion is the third scenario family in the Learning cluster, following Course Enrollment and Learning Assignment. It exercises course progress tracking, assessment pass/fail handling, completion recording and learning record updates, together with negative and security validation, and feeds Learning Certification downstream. Exact retake policy, due-date handling and manager-confirmation rules depend entirely on customer-specific Oracle Fusion Learning configuration — no universal policy is assumed.

Preconditions

  1. Oracle Fusion Learning access is available to the test user.
  2. A representative ${LEARNER} assigned to ${COURSE}, including both online and instructor-led courses, is available or can be constructed.
  3. ${ASSESSMENT} content associated with ${COURSE}, including scenarios that produce a passing and a failing ${ASSESSMENT_RESULT}, is available.
  4. ${DUE_DATE} is configured on the assignment so that on-time and late ${COMPLETION_DATE} scenarios can be tested.
  5. ${MANAGER} test user with the appropriate Learning security access is available for manager-confirmed completion scenarios.
  6. An administrator user with permission to manually mark completion is available.
  7. A user without the required Learning security access is available for security testing.

Exact retake policy, due-date enforcement and manager-confirmation configuration may vary by Oracle Fusion implementation and customer-specific Learning setup; no universal policy is assumed.

Go Beyond the Standard Test with Jarvis AI

The Syntra Standard Test Library defines the core Learning Completion scenario. Jarvis AI can extend this scenario by systematically generating additional Positive, Negative and Security variations using customer-specific learner, course, assessment and due-date data available through Syntra DataVault.

Teams do not need to manually construct dozens of near-identical completion scenarios to cover every course, assessment result and due-date combination. Jarvis uses the standard completion scenario as the foundation and generates coverage relevant to the customer's environment — without creating additional indexable pages.

Rather than maintaining a separate test for every possible course completion, assessment and timing condition, SyntraFlow maintains one core Learning Completion scenario and allows Jarvis AI to generate Positive, Negative and Security variations using the customer's available learner, course, assessment and due-date test data.

AI-Generated Test Variations

The same Learning Completion business scenario can produce many test variations without creating separate public library pages. Below is a real slice of SyntraFlow's Build Scripts library, filtered to HCM Learning.

Positive Scenarios
  • Starting and resuming online and instructor-led course learning
  • Completing online and instructor-led courses
  • Completing an assessment and achieving a passing result
  • Retaking an assessment where a retake is allowed
  • Completion recorded before or on the due date, with progress tracked accurately throughout
  • Manual completion by an administrator or manager-confirmed completion where configured
Negative Scenarios
  • Failing an assessment
  • Late completion after the due date
  • Leaving a course incomplete
  • Unauthorized completion status update
  • Retake attempted where not permitted by configuration

These are representative examples only. Retake policy, due-date enforcement and manager-confirmation configuration can depend on the customer's Oracle Fusion configuration and Learning setup — not every Oracle configuration behaves identically.

Generated Using Your DataVault Test Data

Generic test data rarely represents every learner, course, assessment and due-date combination in a real Oracle Fusion HCM Learning environment. Where connected, Jarvis can use approved test data available through Syntra DataVault — Learner, Course, Assessment, Assessment Result, Due Date and Manager — to construct realistic Learning Completion variations relevant to the customer's actual implementation.

Learning Completion test data can include learner progress and assessment result information. Learner and assessment data used in testing is masked or synthetic via SyntraFlow's DataVault rather than real learner records, and where DataVault masking and privacy controls are configured, they apply to the underlying customer test data used to generate variations across the Learning Completion catalog. See /datavault/data-masking/ for how DataVault protects this data.

Positive and Negative Learning Completion Testing

Positive Testing

Jarvis generates scenarios designed to confirm that Oracle Fusion HCM correctly tracks progress, records a passing assessment result and completes a course when the learner, course, assessment and timing data are all valid.

Assigned Learner + Valid Course + Passing Assessment Result → Course Marked Complete and Learning Record Updated

Negative Testing

Jarvis can also generate scenarios that deliberately violate an assessment, timing or access rule to confirm Oracle correctly rejects or flags the condition rather than silently accepting it.

  • Failing Assessment Result → Course Not Marked Complete
  • Retake Attempted Where Not Permitted → Retake Blocked
  • Completion After Due Date → Late Completion Flagged
  • Course Left Incomplete → Completion Status Remains Incomplete
  • Unauthorized User → Access Prevented

A negative learning scenario passes when Oracle correctly enforces the expected eligibility, prerequisite or capacity rule

DataVault HCM Persona

Rather than generating variations from disconnected field values, Jarvis can draw on a DataVault persona built for learning completion — a pre-grouped, internally consistent set of learner, course, assessment and due-date dimensions, so Jarvis constructs realistic Learning Completion scenarios rather than combining incompatible data.

Persona: Assessment-Ready Learner
Learner${LEARNER}
Course${COURSE}
Assessment${ASSESSMENT}
Assessment Result${ASSESSMENT_RESULT}
Due Date${DUE_DATE}
Manager${MANAGER}
Completion Status${COMPLETION_STATUS}

DataVault personas group dependent learning dimensions so Jarvis generates coherent, internally consistent Learning Completion scenarios rather than arbitrary and potentially unrepresentative field combinations.

Security & Access Variations

Oracle Fusion HCM Learning role and security configuration is customer-specific, so SyntraFlow can exercise completion updates under different personas to confirm the customer's own access model behaves as expected, rather than assuming a universal Oracle security model.

Action Status vs. Business Validation

A successful UI interaction does not automatically prove a learning completion was correctly recorded, an assessment result was correctly evaluated, or the learning record was correctly updated — this is illustrative of how SyntraFlow separates action success from business validation; it does not reflect a specific live execution. Because this page aggregates 20 individual scenarios across course progress, assessment pass/fail handling, completion recording and negative/security validation, evidence-based failure classification matters most here. When a step or business assertion fails, SyntraFlow's evidence is intended to help classify the likely cause into one of eight categories — DATA_ERROR, CONFIGURATION_ERROR, SECURITY_ERROR, EXPECTED_VALIDATION, INTEGRATION_ERROR, AUTOMATION_ERROR, ENVIRONMENT_ERROR or APPLICATION_ERROR — rather than assuming a defect. For example: Assessment result did not update learning record — Likely category: INTEGRATION_ERROR or APPLICATION_ERROR depending on evidence — Evidence: the assessment result was recorded correctly but the learner's overall learning record still shows the prior status — Recommended action: verify the integration between assessment scoring and the learning record before resubmitting. A failure should not be labeled as an Oracle application defect until data, configuration, security, automation and integration causes have been eliminated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the assessment retake policy the same for every Oracle Fusion Learning customer?
No. Whether a learner can retake a failed assessment, how many attempts are permitted, and any cooldown period between attempts depends entirely on the customer's own Oracle Fusion Learning course and assessment configuration. SyntraFlow's scenarios are designed to validate whatever retake policy is actually configured rather than certifying a specific, universal policy.
How is completion timing relative to the due date tested?
Dedicated scenarios validate completion recorded before the due date, on the due date, and after the due date, confirming Oracle Fusion correctly reflects on-time versus late completion status in each case. Exact due-date enforcement and any grace period depend on the customer's own Learning assignment configuration.
Can an administrator or manager mark a course complete instead of the learner?
Yes, where configured. Scenarios validate that an administrator can manually mark a course complete for a learner where permitted, and that a manager confirming completion is recorded correctly where manager confirmation is enabled. Availability of these paths depends entirely on the customer's own Oracle Fusion Learning configuration.
Does completing a course automatically trigger certification?
Only where configured. A dedicated scenario validates that completing a course correctly initiates downstream certification processing when a certification trigger is configured for that course; where no such trigger is configured, course completion is not expected to start a certification workflow. See the related Learning Certification test for certification-specific scenarios.
How does SyntraFlow classify a failed Learning Completion test?
When a step or business assertion fails, SyntraFlow's evidence is intended to help classify the likely cause into one of eight categories — DATA_ERROR, CONFIGURATION_ERROR, SECURITY_ERROR, EXPECTED_VALIDATION, INTEGRATION_ERROR, AUTOMATION_ERROR, ENVIRONMENT_ERROR or APPLICATION_ERROR — along with supporting evidence and a recommended action. A failure should not be labeled as an Oracle application defect until data, configuration, security, automation and integration causes have been eliminated.
