Oracle Config Validation & Copy — Environment Consistency, Automated
SyntraFlow validates your complete Oracle Fusion configuration and copies it between environments on demand — flexfields, lookups, profile options, workflows, security, everything. No more 'works in test, fails in prod' surprises.
Config Validation & Copy Scenario Categories
Complete scenario coverage across every testing dimension — positive, negative, end-to-end, and edge cases.
Configuration Objects Covered
- Descriptive Flexfields (DFFs) with context structures
- Key Flexfields (KFFs) with segment definitions
- Profile Option values at Site / App / User / Responsibility levels
- Lookup types, codes, and meanings
- BPM Worklist / Workflow configurations
- Data Security Policies and their scope
- Application Composer customisations
- OTBI and BI Publisher report definitions
Validation Scenarios
- Detect config drift between Dev, Test, UAT, and Production
- Identify missing profile option overrides before go-live
- Flag flexfield contexts that exist in source but not target
- Compare workflow step configurations across environments
- Validate data security policies are consistent
- Detect custom lookup codes added in one env, missing in another
Copy Scenarios
- Production → Test refresh: copy prod config to new test environment
- Test → UAT promotion: promote validated config to UAT with diff review
- Sandbox → Dev: migrate sandbox experiments to Dev when approved
- Quarterly release: refresh test envs with latest prod config before Oracle 26A/B/C/D
- Config rollback: revert target environment to a captured baseline
- Cross-pod migration: support Oracle tenant-to-tenant moves
Why This Is Self-Driving
- No manual FSM / Setup Manager export-import dance
- Diff-aware: copies only the deltas, preserving local test-specific overrides
- Continuous validation: you know config drift exists the same day it happens
- Audit-grade: every copy produces an evidence pack of what moved
- Reversible: any copy can be rolled back to the pre-copy baseline
- Safe: pre-flight validation blocks unsafe copies automatically
Sample Scenario Matrix
| Config Layer | What Gets Compared | Manual Effort (FSM) | SyntraFlow |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flexfields | DFF + KFF definitions + contexts + value sets | 2–3 days per environment pair | Under 15 minutes |
| Profile Options | All site/app/user/responsibility values | Manual BI query per option | Continuous |
| Lookups | All lookup types, codes, meanings, territories | Tedious CSV exports | Under 10 minutes |
| Workflows | BPM participant rules, approvals, routing | Often skipped in comparisons | Under 20 minutes |
| Security | Data Security Policies, role hierarchies | Security admin effort | Under 30 minutes |
| Reports | BIP + OTBI report definitions | Manual export per report | Under 15 minutes |

Frequently Asked Questions
How is this different from Oracle FSM (Functional Setup Manager)?▼
FSM is a manual, interactive tool. You export an implementation project, download a ZIP, import it into another environment, hope nothing conflicts, and manually resolve issues. SyntraFlow's config copy is automated, diff-aware (so you can approve changes one by one), validates pre-flight, and produces audit evidence. Think of FSM as the underlying mechanism; SyntraFlow is the operator on top that makes it safe and continuous.
Can I copy production config to test without copying data?▼
Yes. SyntraFlow strictly separates config from transactional data. A P2T-style config refresh is a common use case — you get prod's current flexfields, profile options, lookups, and workflows into test without touching invoices, journals, or payroll records. Test data comes from Oracle Data Vault separately.
What about Oracle's own P2T / clone process?▼
Oracle's P2T copies everything including data, requires a support request, and takes days. SyntraFlow config copy is config-only, on-demand, and takes minutes. They're complementary — use Oracle P2T when you need full data refresh, use SyntraFlow config copy for config alignment between P2T cycles.
Is the copy reversible?▼
Every copy captures a full baseline of the target environment before applying changes. If the result isn't right, you can roll back to the pre-copy state in one click. Rollbacks produce their own audit record.
What does config drift detection look like?▼
SyntraFlow continuously compares configurations across your connected environments and surfaces drift as soon as it appears. Example alerts: 'Test has 3 new DFF contexts that don't exist in Prod' or 'Profile option TAX_ENABLED is TRUE in Prod but FALSE in UAT'. You see drift the day it happens, not at go-live.
Does this integrate with our CI/CD pipeline?▼
Yes. SyntraFlow exposes REST APIs for validation, diff, and copy operations. Many customers trigger a validation run as a gate in their quarterly release pipeline: if config drift exceeds threshold, the release pauses until reviewed. Integration with Jira, ServiceNow, and change-management systems is supported out of the box.
